Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important representative said the incident left him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
