Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
