A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Authorities reported the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by a trio of assailants, one of whom opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.

The purpose of the shooting remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, as per the official statement.

The Fatal Incident

Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a building near the Carlton Centre.

He had devoted time at the building managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, it was reported.

"Authorities believe the man was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," an official report stated.

Surveillance tape reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire shooting on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the assault.

Crucial forensic evidence, like cartridges, were found at the scene.
