Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
