Netflix Selects Spot-On Star for Bentham in One Piece Season 3
The Secret Organization is poised to exert significant influence in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the true confrontation won’t unfold until the third season, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Mr. 2. Bon Clay possesses the power to morph into an perfect replica of anyone they’ve touched with their right hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a rendition of that figure reinterpreted as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the live-action show, as in the original manga and cartoon version.
This performer joins several other fresh additions who will portray Baroque Works to reality, such as chief Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the cast as the ruler of Alabasta.
Even though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Given season 2 set to cover the Little Garden storyline, this signals a significant shift in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the plot development.
Their mix of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a standout choice for the part. Besides their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its second season on March 10, 2026.
