Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the international hiatus, however will the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

In week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' new record, the new release, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their attack is now stronger with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have impressed a few people under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

My son advised me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. The visitors will try to attack on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have have plenty of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of October.

But I am not do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home record, the only side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have still been respectable at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
