Supporters Call for Arrest of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who breached a fence and seized the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared clip depicts the Australian man bypassing media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway accompanied by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was scheduled to attend court on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram account includes videos of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented another response on Instagram.
Some fans also faulted event staff at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals called for social media platforms to block Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Many of fans had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-film version of the acclaimed Broadway and West End show Wicked, which revolves around the surprising relationship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The musical itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful film of the previous year in the UK, and earned a dozen award recognitions, earning a pair for outstanding attire and set decoration.
