The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a local firefighter, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, diverse, and based in heritage that unite the community. Each year, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
